Founded in January 2007, the Institute for East-Asia Cultural Exchange aims to build an academic foundation for East Asian studies by studying the cultural, social, and historical interactions within the region, thereby contributing to the resolution of international conflicts and to the sustainable development of all. Cultural exchanges in contemporary society not only affect the building of a nation’s reputation, but also have an enormous impact on its economy. In this regard, the Institute pursues a vision for harmony and peace in the East Asian region by promoting cultural development and international cooperation through its historical research on the intra-East Asia cultural exchanges and interactions. Furthermore, the Institute undertakes the efforts to build an East Asian academic community through active engagements with foreign scholars of East Asian history and to be a leader in the education of Korean and East Asian history. .
